Church Security & Active Threat Preparedness

A Professional, Faith-Aligned Security Program for Houses of Worship

Protecting lives is an act of stewardship. Thoughtful preparedness equips church leaders and volunteers with the clarity, training, and confidence to respond responsibly when it matters most—allowing your congregation to worship openly, remain welcoming, and feel secure without fear, disruption, or compromise to faith and ministry.

Why Church Security Can No Longer Be an Afterthought

Churches are places of trust, openness, and community — and that very openness creates risk. Across the U.S., faith-based institutions are increasingly targeted because they are perceived as “soft targets.”

On June 22, 2025, an armed attacker attempted to enter CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, Michigan during a Vacation Bible School service attended by more than 150 people, including children.

The outcome could have been tragic.
It wasn’t.

Trained church members recognized the threat, acted decisively, and stopped the attacker before he entered the building. Two members of the volunteer security team had completed professional church security training less than one week earlier

In any violent incident, the first 30 seconds determine everything.

Without a plan, those moments are filled with hesitation, uncertainty, and chaos.
With a plan, they are filled with purposeful action.

A true church safety plan is:

  • Written and clearly defined

  • Practiced and reviewed regularly

  • Built around people, not just equipment

Security is not about fear. It’s about responsibility.

Church Security Is More Than Carrying a Firearm

Effective church security requires:

  • Training

  • Structure

  • Clear roles

  • Legal understanding

  • Communication

  • Medical readiness

A firearm is only one tool in a much larger system.

Our approach emphasizes layered defense, de-escalation, situational awareness, and decisive response — aligned with nationally recognized training standards.

Lives were saved because:

  • They had a plan

  • They had trained

  • They acted with clarity instead of confusion

This incident is a powerful reminder: preparation changes outcomes.

Training for Real-World Church Scenarios

Effective training must reflect reality.

Our program emphasizes scenario-based preparation, including:

  • Disruptions during worship

  • Suspicious individuals at entrances

  • Threats during services or children’s programs

  • Coordinated response across multiple rooms

Training includes drills followed by structured debriefs:

  • What worked

  • What slowed response

  • What needs adjustment

We train not just how to stop a threat — but how to restore calm and control quickly.
